Ride Tarc!

TARC provides public transportation in the Greater Louisville area with bus routes in Jefferson, Bullitt and Oldham counties in Kentucky and Clark and Floyd counties in Indiana. All TARC buses accommodate wheelchairs and are equipped with bike racks.

Buses every 15 minutes on Routes #23 and #18

From 6 a.m-9 p.m. Monday-Friday, buses arrive every 15 minutes at stops on the core sections of these two popular Louisville routes. Route #23 covers Broadway from Shawnee Park to Baxter Avenue and extends east through the Highlands on Bardstown Road. Route #18 travels Dixie and Preston Highways, connecting between the two thoroughfares in downtown Louisville on Market Street (eastbound) and Jefferson Street (westbound).

TARC's fleet of hybrids is growing

With the addition of eight new hybrid electric buses early next year, TARC will have 29 hybrids in its fleet. About 15 percent of TARC buses will be hybrids. The buses, to be purchased with a $3.8 million federal grant, cut down significantly on air pollution, save on energy consumption and costs and provide a smoother ride for passengers. Each hybrid will save 2,000 gallons of diesel fuel per year compared to the buses they will replace.
