Accessible Services
The front of every TARC bus has priority seating for seniors and citizens with disabilities. All TARC routes feature buses with either lift mechanisms or ramps to assist customers in wheelchairs or with other mobility impairments. All TARC routes are Wheelchair Accessible

The front of every TARC bus has priority seating for seniors and citizens with disabilities. All TARC routes feature buses with either lift mechanisms or ramps to assist customers in wheelchairs or with other mobility impairments.

Kneeling buses are available on most buses to make boarding easy for mobility-impaired passengers including elderly persons and passengers using crutches or canes. Kneeling buses are identified with a decal near the front door.

If disabilities prevent you from using regular routes, TARC also provides a door-to-door service known as TARC 3.

TARC3 Paratransit
Paratransit Services has been created in order to provide public transportation for people with disabilities.

The ADA states that TARC's regular bus service should be the primary means of public transportation for everyone, including people with disabilities. Under the ADA, TARC 3 will serve as a safety net for only those persons who do not have the functional capability to ride TARC's regular buses.

TARC 3 Paratransit service is a shared-ride public transportation system, enabling routes and schedules to be structured to transport multiple passengers to multiple destinations.

    Eligibility
    Applicant must meet one of the following ADA Paratransit eligibility categories:
  1. Is unable, because of a disability, to board, ride or disembark from an accessible fixed-route bus.
  2. Is capable of using an accessible vehicle, but the desired trip cannot be made because a portion of the fixed-route service is not yet accessible.
  3. Is unable to travel to or from a bus stop.
Door-to-Door Service
TARC 3 Paratransit service is a door-to-door public transportation service for people who are certified as ADA paratransit eligible.

Door-to-door service means that drivers will assist passengers from the outside door of the point of origin and to the outside door of the destination.

If you are interested in applying for the TARC 3 ADA Paratransit service, call 502-213-3217 weekdays, between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, to receive an application by mail.
