TARC Pilots Mobile Ticketing, Offers Fare-Free Service on Select Route 4 Buses

Louisville, KY (June 28, 2019) – Beginning July 1st TARC will pilot a mobile-ticketing payment option for select buses along Route 4. The pilot is designed to gather data on the feasibility of implementing mobile ticketing for all routes across the TARC service area.

“TARC continues to move forward and lead the country in advanced mobility options,” said Ferdinand L. Risco Jr., TARC Executive Director, “With the addition of mobile ticketing our customers will be able to plan, book, and pay for their transportation all from a single device they use every day.”

Download the mobile-ticketing option from the new TARC mobile app. When you board a bus along Route 4 from July 1st through July 14th and you see the mobile-ticketing sensor at the farebox, tap your mobile ticket and you ride fare-free.

“TARC continues to lead the way by pioneering the use of IoT (Internet of Things) sensors for mobile ticketing, developed by ZED Digital,” said Sumithra Jagannath, ZED Digital President, “Through our continuing partnership this pilot program will enable TARC to achieve higher levels of mobility integration; early adoption of these changes now set TARC ahead of trends 3 – 5 years down the road.”
