LOUISVILLE, KY (December 20, 2019) – The Transit Authority of River City (TARC) is seeking public comment as part of their annual January service changes. Potential changes are set to go into effect January 26th, and include changes to routes #18 and #50 express that service the Dixie corridor. The changes will result in a split of the #18 downtown into two branches. The #18 will continue to service the Dixie corridor to Downtown, and #28 will be introduced and serve the current branch of #18 from Downtown along Preston Highway. Mobile Ticketing for fixed route service will also be discussed for launch in January. TARC will host a series of public meetings on January 7th and January 8th to present changes and collect community comment.

Proposed changes:

  • Route #18 will split downtown and run service between Valley Station to Jefferson and 6th Street (current Dixie arm of #18).
  • The introduced Route #28 will run service between Jefferson and 6th Street to Jefferson Boulevard (previous Preston arm of #18).
  • Express route #50 will no longer operate along Dixie corridor. This route will receive improved service with the new BRT (Bus Rapid Transit).
    • The BRT (Route #10) will run service from Valley Station to Market and 2nd Street. This route will run every 15 minutes between 5:30 AM – 7:00 PM, and every 20 minutes from 4:00 AM – 5:30 AM and 7:00 PM – 1:00 AM.
  • A Mobile Ticketing option will soon be available for customers to purchase and board TARC fixed route service (initial launch will include: single trip, 24 hour pass, 7 day pass, and 30 day pass).
