TARC Saves a Seat for Rosa Parks, Encourages Everyone to Take a Day and Ride

Louisville, Ky. (January 31, 2020)

During February, TARC will once again save a seat on every bus in honor of Rosa Parks and her contribution to the Civil Rights movement. Each of the saved seats will feature a sign to inform and remind customers of how Parks changed history on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1955.

“The world changed forever the day Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat,” said Ferdinand L. Risco Jr., TARC Executive Director/CEO. “It’s important for TARC to recognize her legacy, the memory of the many who inspired her to act, and those who were—and continue to be—inspired by her courage.”

TARC is encouraging everyone in the region to ride the bus at least one day in February.

In recognition of Black History Month, TARC will be highlighting contributions to the Civil Rights movement made by African American leaders from throughout the Greater Louisville region. You can learn about these contributions and more by visiting TARC’s social media channels and searching for the hashtag #SaveaSeat.
