TARC Suspends Service effective at 7 PM each evening, Friday through Sunday
Suspended service in effect Friday (9/25) through Sunday (9/27), effective at 7 PM each evening
LOUISVILLE, KY. (September 25, 2020) —
TARC is suspending all transit services, Friday, September 25, 2020, through Sunday, September 27, 2020, effective each evening at 7 PM. TARC service will run as scheduled each day until the 7 PM suspension.
Our primary responsibility is to safely transport passengers from origin to destination in a timely fashion. Due to the roving locations of current demonstrations in Greater Louisville causing roadway obstructions, our drivers cannot safely move about the city.
We recognize the inconvenience this may cause to our passengers. This is a decision made with careful thought and evaluation. This decision is warranted and in the best interest of safety.
It is important to note- this action is not a commentary on the protests and demonstrations themselves. It is however, a recognition that we cannot ask our drivers to operate on roadways crowded with pedestrians, or our passengers, who encompass all ages and abilities, to remain on buses, unable to move for indefinite amounts of time.
TARC will continue to monitor and work with supporting Metro Government agencies throughout the weekend with the expectation of returning to regular service on Monday, September 28, 2020.
