New labor contract in place for TARC Union employees

December 1, 2022

The collective bargaining agreement between ATU Local 1447 and TARC management was approved by the Board of Directors this morning.

Union members voted yesterday to accept the proposed contract, which includes the largest percentage increase in TARC’s history. Terms of the new CBA include:

  • Term is two (2) years, September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024.
  • Wage increases of 6% in year one, and 4% in year two for a total of 10% over the life of the contract for all Union employees.
  • Continued coverage of 95% of health insurance cost for all employees.
  • Increase from $30 to up to $75 for CDL reimbursement for Transportation and Maintenance employees.
  • Increase from $420 to $450 in Uniform Allowance for Transportation employees.
  • Increase from $180 to $250 in Shoe Allowance for Maintenance employees.
  • Increase from $435 to $500 in Tool Allowance for Maintenance employees.
  • Increase from $1.45 to $3.00 per hour in instructor pay (in addition to hourly wage) for Transportation and Maintenance employees.
  • Addition of Juneteenth as a holiday (observed on June 19 in 2023 and 2024) for all employees.

The CBA is retroactive to Sept. 1, 2022. Wage increases go into effect immediately and back pay will be issued as quickly as possible.

“I’m pleased that an agreement has been reached, and we’re proud to offer our Union employees a wage and benefits package that recognizes their hard work, dedication, and professionalism,” said TARC Executive Director Carrie Butler. “With a new contract in place, we have much to celebrate and accomplish as we look ahead to the new year.”
