TARC joins Fischer, Yarmuth in celebrating Federal funding for major corridor improvements

December 28, 2022

TARC Executive Director Carrie Butler joined Mayor Greg Fischer, Congressman John Yarmuth (KY-3), Executive Director of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Office of Project Development Jason Siwula, and members of the Louisville Forward staff in celebrating major infrastructure allocations awarded this year through RAISE (Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability & Equity) grants from the Federal government and the recently passed Omnibus bill.

The Reimagine 9th Street, Broadway All the Way, and Buechel Bank Road Widening and Pedestrian Improvements projects will receive more than $24 million in Federal, state, and local funding to improve multimodal transit in our city and create a more inviting and inclusive roadway that focuses on pedestrians, bus riders and cyclists in addition to cars.

β€œAll of us at TARC are excited and eager to partner with Metro Louisville and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to bring these projects to fruition. The Broadway All the Way, Reimagine Ninth Street, and Buechel Bank Road Widening and Pedestrian Improvements projects will be a huge step forward for the city, for multi-modal transportation, and for a more livable community. I want to thank both Mayor Fischer and Congressman Yarmuth for their role not just in securing these Federal monies, but also for their support of TARC over the years and their efforts to make our city even more livable, more connected, and more accessible.”
