TARC unveils new, redesigned bus stop signs in preparation for the New TARC Network
May 6, 2026Today (May 6) TARC releases the new look of the New TARC Network bus-stop signs at the corner of Broadway & Dixie in front of the YMCA. The new signs (see below) at each stop will be bigger, double-sided, include the route number, name, and destination, be color coded to indicate frequency (red: 15 min., blue: 30 min., etc.) and indicate the Stop ID number for easier traveling through the city.

“This new sign is more than just a bus stop— it’s the result of a community designed transit system that moves Louisville forward in a reliable, more sustainable way,” said Ozzy Gibson, TARC Executive Director. “The look of these signs have been updated to reflect best practices from other cities, and to make riding the New TARC Network as easy as possible for our community.”
The new blue signs will be replacing the old red signs over the next few weeks; but there will be no changes to bus stops, routes, or schedules before August 2. The public is also asked to look for flyers at their bus stops; a flyer will be placed at every stop in the current network indicating whether a new stop is being added, will continue to be served in the new network, or is being removed beginning August 2.
The New TARC Network begins August 2, 2026. It will bring major changes for most TARC riders with new routes, route numbers, schedules and bus stops. It will provide faster, more reliable bus service with more frequent service on major corridors across the city. Buses will be running every 15 minutes all day on Broadway, Bardstown, Preston, 4th Street, Dixie Highway and Market Street, and a new Downtown Transfer Center at 8th & Ali will make it easier to connect between routes.
